ANSI Z10:2005, CSA Z1000-06 and OHSAS 18001 Registration / Certification. Z10:2005 is the current Health and Safety Standard for the United States of America.
Z1000:2005 is the current Health and Safety Standard for the Canada.
OHSAS 18001 is the Health and Safety Standard developed in Britain that has been in use since the late 1990's and is the most recognized internationally.
Certech is pleased to offer concurrent audits addressing the requirements of all three standards.
Defines the requirements and provides guidance in how to implement an effective Health and Safety Management System. Requirements are divided into 5 sections; 3) Management Leadership and Employee Participation, 4) Planning, 5) Implementation and Operation, 6) Evaluation of Corrective Action, and 7) Management Review.
Little consideration appears to have been given in integration of this standard with existing internationally accepted quality and environmental management system standards. Despite this many common requirements exist and integration can be fairly simply achieved.
Compliance with applicable legislation and regulation is addressed by requiring a statement of commitment within Policy statement and consideration when prioritizing OHSMS issues.
Does not provide cross reference to other management system standards.
Defines the requirements and provides guidance in how to implement an effective Health and Safety Management System. Requirements are divided into 2 sections; 4) Occupational health and safety management system, 5) Management review and continual improvement.
Provides excellent cross references to ANSI/AIHA Z10:2005, ILO-OSH 2001, OHSAS 18001:1999 and ISO 14001.
OHSAS 18001 Specification gives requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system, to enable an organization to control its OH&S risks and improve its performance. It does not state specific OH&S performance criteria, nor does it give detailed specifications for the design of management systems.
OHSAS 18001 requires an organization to identify its OH&S Hazards. Frame the hazards within its OH&S policy; define objectives and targets to achieve an identified level of OH&S performance, which at minimum focus on prevention. Plan to achieve its objectives and target. Implement the plans and monitor and measure them for effectiveness. Analyze the data from the monitoring and measuring processes to provide management with factual information to change and improve the system to further enhance OH&S performance.
